In order to deepen the Council’s engagement with its Members and with individual scientists across the world, the ISC is in the process of establishing a number of Regional Focal Points.
A Regional Focal Point for Latin America and the Caribbean hosted by the Academia Colombiana de Ciencias Exactas, Fisicas y Naturales was launched in 2021, and the Asia-Pacific Region, hosted by the Australian Academy of Science, was launched in 2022. The dialogue to commence a presence in Africa will start in December, 2022.
The regional focal points will operate under a common governance structure.

The ISC signed an agreement with Future Africa to respond to the need to support African science.
